5001 MÉXICO A CABALLO

I am Long Rider Chris MacLuckie. With honor I once again set off on my trusty Morgan mare Roxy to set an example of working horse health.

In April the long ride begins in the Guatemalan Highlands followed by a year long tour through horse-loving Mexico.

This time, I will be riding less each day and month to make time for sharing more horse videos, interviews, and stories both online and with my hosts.

HORSES, HORSE HEALTH, AND HORSES AS THERAPY.

Throughout my trip I look forward to offering presentations with my hosts. I will cover 4 topics:

  1. How to travel down the road successfully
  2. Fitting a saddle that can hold gear and is comfortable for both horse and rider
  3. Hoof care (barefoot and easyboot)
  4. How feed affects health and especially foot health.

Keep up to date with our mission here, and on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Soundcloud.

We mutually share a love and respect for the horse.
We humbly dedicate ourselves to improving our ability to care for our animals, and to share best practices.

Together we are 5001, México a Caballo

SABESA saddle bags, creams and workshops

Chasing Green Grass

Roxy is rocking it these days. We've been doing some short intense rides and we've improved her diet since February. We had some poor feed in January and February, but we got a better source of hay...

5000 Miles of Hope Store Launch -April 12, 2019.

In the last couple weeks it all came together for me. I realized the best way for me to ride AND write is to focus on short, medium, and full length digital files. I can make them well when I have the time and roll them out on an ongoing basis, without having to worry...

Kickstarter Campaign Summary

I want to start by thanking everyone who ordered, read, shared and was part of our campaign. In terms of raising funds for printing professional photo books of our yearlong journey by horse we did not succeed. HOWEVER, the campaign was super successful in terms of...
I decided to go on another trip back to Mexico for a couple fundamental reasons.

I wanted to finish my ride with a bang and to do that I needed to focus 100% on horses. For me and several other Long Riders, México is the Mecca of horse riding. As I successfully completed 1 long ride, what better way to celebrate doing another long ride than doing it in the country where they do more horse rides than anywhere else in the world?

Mexico IS horses, and I look forward to sharing what I know about horse travel with the Mexicans I meet as well as with the world via this site and my books. Chris MacLuckie
