WEEK 8 | Mexico a Caballo

https://youtu.be/EZ3VwMEEavM
Week 8 was all about seeing old friends from the first ride.
I’m retracing my route thru southern México for a while, before forging on to new trails in Veracruz.
It’s REALLY, REALLY neat seeing my friends and hosts from last time, and going over the route in reverse. I feel the spirit of the semi nomad and what it meant to actually LIVE in many places.
Not adventuring and not travel to cross items off your bucket list, but what it must have felt like to travel along trade routes, with you horse as your means of TRANSPORTATION…This distinct feeling is something I’m going to go into a little deeper in the next while, especially in regards to culture, trade, agriculture and customs.

Week 8 was also the first week of entering the heat of the coast.
Something I’m going to be living with for the next 8 weeks until I rise to the Highlands after visiting Equine Therapy Centers in Veracruz. The Isthmus of Mexico is a bummer, but it’s unavoidable. And travelling further north thru the rest of Oaxaca like last time is not going to happen. That was rough travel last time.

So onwards we go. I actually think I’ll be getting the rest of my hoofboots this week….
I’d like to thank my hosts Pepe, Luis, Fausto, Chilo and Leo/ Mainor for the great hospitality this week along our journey thru Mexico.
