Hi guys. Welcome to 5000 Miles of Hope! 5000 Miles of Hope is pretty simple. It’s one unshod horse and her guide and rider. Morgan mare Roxy and Canadian Chris MacLuckie. We travel solo with no vehicle support. We find our places to stay, and our food and feed – as they come…
This is what I feed Roxy now that we are in the dry season. Roxy 925lbs, Per day…

The Long Riders Guild is the go to resource site for support and information regarding horse travel and long distance expeditions.
The #1 horse issue I saw while travelling thru Canada, USA, Mexico and Guatemala was OVERRUN HOOVES, EITHER SHOD OR BAREFOOT.
We used a custom Mad Barn product for 9 of the 13 months we rode from Canada to Guatemala.
In a nutshell, it was pretty awesome… More than anything, I learned what a truly extraordinary horse will do for you, and that extraordinary horses are the stuff of legends.
